Case Studies
Here’s a sample of our work over the past 23 years:
BIOTECH:
- Between 2001 and 2008, Sidney Kimmel Cancer Center relied on Scribe’s media relations skills to introduce a new CEO, support a capital campaign for a new headquarters building, and continually publicize key investigators and their research breakthroughs.
- Since 2002, the Salk Institute has has tapped Scribe for media relations special projects, including the 50th anniversary of Jonas Salk’s polio vaccine and Salk’s premier annual fundraiser, Symphony at Salk.
TECHNOLOGY:
- When the first big players launched city sites in San Diego, both came to Scribe for strategic media consulting: Microsoft for SidewalkSanDiego.com and Cox Interactive for SanDiegoInsider.com.
- Cox Communications tapped Scribe to handle media and publicity for a variety of key initiatives, including the launch of Channel 4 San Diego, high-speed internet, telephony and Teacher of the Year, as well as the introduction of new Vice President and General Manager Bill Geppert.
REAL ESTATE AND DESIGN:
- With deep experience and expertise in land use issues and real estate sales, Scribe has successfully launched such groundbreaking communities as Santaluz and Del Sur in north San Diego.
- New home builders such as Davidson, Brookfield Homes and Shea Homes San Diego continue to rely on Scribe to increase consumer awareness and boost traffic through publicity and media relations.
- Architects Lew Dominy, Dave Lorimer and the late Larry Case have partnered with Scribe to showcase their design talents and problem solving abilities through the media.
- When commercial development migrated north from downtown San Diego in the late 1980s, developers in the Golden Triangle banded together to fund a multi-year PR campaign. Supervised by the Greater San Diego Chamber of Commerce North City office, Scribe helped establish the Golden Triangle as a Class A destination for commercial, retail and residential use through a local and regional media relations program.
- Yuma, Arizona now ranks as a hot spot for redevelopment. A 22-acre portion of the historic riverfront is now being redeveloped in a $100 venture between the City of Yuma and San Diego-based Clark-Lankford LLC. Scribe is now coordinating the grand opening of the $30 million Phase I, a 150-room Hilton Garden Inn and 20,000-square-foot Riverfront Conference Center, built by La Jolla-based C.W. Clark, Inc.
RESTAURANTS:

- When the San Diego-based Chart House restaurant chain overhauled its venerable brand in the 1990s, Scribe provided media relations expertise to help calm and reassure its loyal customer base.
NON-PROFIT
- Publicizing the extraordinary work of the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation included the launch of new merchants and restaurants at Market Creek Plaza and the 2008 opening of the $23.5 million Jo and Vi Jacobs Community Center in Southeast San Diego.
- Among our many pro-bono PR campaigns, none have been as rewarding as our work for Rotary International. Since 2001, we have helped raise nationwide awareness in support of the Rotary School for 3,000 girls and boys in Jalalabad, Afghanistan.
