Rotarian Fary Moini Receives Award for Service in Afghanistan
Jan 18th, 2010 | By Scribe Team | Category: Around SDThe Governor of Nangarhar, Gulagha Shirzai, presented an award from Afghan President Hamid Karzai and the Afghan Ministry of Education December 26 to La Jolla Golden Triangle Rotary Club member Fary Moini. Ms. Moini gratefully accepted on the behalf of President Steve Brown and her fellow Rotarians.
The engraving on the award translates to:
“The Islamic Republic of Afghanistan and the Leadership of the Ministry of Education appreciate your efforts and endeavors in the field of the development of Education”

While she was in Afghanistan, Fary also arranged a seminar titled “Rights of Women in Islam” for approximately 80 female and male students from Nangarhar University and their professors. The Dean of the Sharia Law Faculty, one medical doctor and expert in Islam, three scholars in Islamic religion, and one Taliban religious leader were the speakers. The speakers tackled issues related to the rights of women in Islam of inheritance, education, responsibility, and the equality of men and women.
Fary continues to work on behalf of the children and women in Afghanistan, and we are proud of her.
