The iPhone and citizen jounalism

The newest version of the iPhone has video recording capabilities, thus enhancing the already speedy ‘life-to-web’ transmission rate. Rachel Sterne, chief executive of the citizen journalism site, GroundReport, claims that “Mobile is the future of citizen journalism”. The iPhones have a ’send it to YouTube’ feature, which will expedite the story-telling process.

It is really amazing the ways in which technology is forcing a major change in journalism! The rise of internet self-publication and citizen journalism, aided by exciting technologies like the new iPhone, are likely to have entirely unanticipated influence on the future of journalism.
